Hi Guys, i took this when i started photography with my 400D this was taken at nanas thinking of sending it for the SPCA competition, what you guys and gals think?

first picture - 3 things 1) Top part of dogs hair is burnt out overexpose. 2) It would be better if both eyes can be seen. 3) eye contact
2nd picture blur on the ear.
This is constructive critique please do not take offence.
But it doesn't you're sending it in for a good cause and even if you don't win, you have won.

Better good details on face but I would prefer the body to be clear too, by setting higher dof.
