Nice shots Sylvia. pic. 1 could be improved by removing the little bit of flower on bottom left using content aware in photoshop. use your marquee tool, select, press shift backspace check that content aware is selected and press Enter. If you could blur the background might make it better also as then you separate the foreground from the background. I feel that on some there is insufficient light. Look for lighted bunch of orchids or bring along a friend and a torchlight and shine the light from behind into the orchid. Keep on shooting as with mistakes and experience improvement is rapid. We learn from mistakes providing we know what the mistakes are and can rectify it. An example of orchid with light and blurred background.

Yes you can use fill flash but as you know its tough using flash. Light from front is different from light from behind - different objective and result.
